Why is HP expanding the May 14, 2009 battery recall previously expanded on May 19, 2010 again? |
|
HP continuously monitors the recall program. Our monitoring showed that additional battery packs should be included in the recall program. These additional battery packs were sold with HP notebook PCs from July 2007 through July 2008. One additional commercial product model series was also included in the recall program as part of this expansion. HP customers affected by this program will be eligible to receive a free replacement battery pack for each verified, recalled battery pack. » Back to top |

My battery is no longer holding a charge, but I was told that my battery is not affected by the recall. Why isn’t it part of the recall? |
|
Only specific battery packs are affected by the safety recall. The battery’s ability to hold a charge is not related to the cause of the recall.
The energy storage capacity of all batteries decreases over time. This is normal for all rechargeable batteries and is not specific to notebook PCs or HP products. If the notebook PC is operated on battery power frequently, the battery capacity decreases faster and requires replacement sooner than a battery that is only used occasionally. Temperature and humidity also impact battery capacity. For additional information please visit . » Back to top |
